Full Description: Succulent species Euphorbia ammak verigata or-(Veriegated) is a tree-like Euphorbia that can eventually reach up to 20' tall, several branches or arms grow from the main stems. Individual stems average 3" to 4" inches in diameter with white to light green and grey-green blotches and stripping on skin and some light yellow bands, wavy rib edges have serrated spine like or thorny edges. Near the tops of stems 1/2 lime green to darker green and 1/2 white colored lancelet shaped leaves emerge in the warm growing season, beautiful variegation in the leaves of this variety-(see pictures below). Very drought tolerant once established. An attractive and interesting landscape plant. Can be ground planted in frost free locations or grown as a house plant in cold locations.

Native To : Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Synonyms : There are no synonyms for this species/name. This is the variegated version though under the same name Euphorbia ammak as the dark green colored stem or regular species form. See the normal un-variegated form by clicking here Euphorbia ammak-(Normal green stem form).

Common Names : Golden Candelabra, African Candelabra, Spurge

Flowers/ Fruit : Grown primarily for its foliage as a landscape plant Euphorbia ammak has small insignificant yellow-green flowers followed by non edible greenish fruit.

More Info. : Euphorbia ammak is a species of plant in the Euphorbiaceae family. Although native to Saudi Arabia and Yemen, it is common in southern Africa where it was introduced long ago by traders, but Euphorbia ammak is now listed as a threatened species in its native habitat.

There is also a crested form of Euphorbia ammak with similar growth characteristics but has green stem coloring. You can view it by clicking here Euphorbia ammak-(Crested Form)

Like most species in the Euphorbia genus the milky white sap is poisonous and can irritate eyes, so wash hands well after trimming stems or handling them.

Care : Euphorbia ammak likes full sun part of the day to part-shade and semi-rich good draining soil mix. Requiring very little water once established, it is not tolerant of wet conditions, particularly during winter months. In cold locations it can easily be grown in a container as a houseplant or moved indoors during the winter season. Hardy to 32 degrees but only for very brief periods.

Offered As : An 8" to 12" long cutting to all mail order locations. Larger rooted specimens are available for mail order within the U.S. only or can be picked up at our walk in nursery location or ordered by phone, click the link below for info. or to check availability.
