Full Description: Species Echinocereus fasciculatus Has a 3" to 4" diameter brilliant magenta pink bloom, darker colored in throat and a green stigma. Red soft/fleshy fruits follow blooming which occurs in spring-summer.

Growth; Forms a tight mound of several stems varying in heights with the tallest older stems averaging 20" tall. Each individual stem can average 3" in diameter and have several radial spines along the ribs edges averaging 1/2" to 3/4" long. Stems are dark green in color but hardly seen due to the numerous spines which can vary in coloration from brownish to grey/white.

Care; Likes full sun and fast draining soil mix if container planted. Water little in winter, occasionally in summer. Hardy below freezing.

Common Name(s): Pinkflower Hedgehog Cactus, Bundle Hedgehog, Robust Hedgehog, Short-Spined Strawberry Cactus, Strawberry Hedgehog, Arizona Rainbow Cactus.

Synonym(s): Mammillaria fasciculata, Echinocereus engelmannii, Echinocereus abbeae, Echinocereus fendleri var. fasciculatus.

Native to; Arizona, U.S.A.-(from the northern Tucson Basin, in the southern foothills of the Tortolita Mountains). Also said to be found in Sonora - Mexico & parts of New Mexico - United States (North America)

Notes; Long lasting bloom, slower grower but needs little care-(Slowly forms a large clump over time).
