After 5 years growing this plant, I finally have a bud !!!
Fingers crossed that it blooms!
(Had two buds on my Selenicereus Donkelaarii but something either ate them or knocked them off )
Here's a picture of my Dog Tail plant and the bud! The bud is on the left side hanging over the railing of our dock on the canal. Sure hope the Alligators don't like dog tail buds & blooms!
The largest one I've seen in our canal out back was a 10 footer! Neighbors didn't like seeing him sun himself on their bank so they called Animal Control to take him away.
The ones we see now are about 5 or 6 foot.
Also have had Bobcats walking through our backyard a few times
So long as they all keep their distance I don't mind
Okay, one bud fell off a few days ago but the other is growing nicely!
About 6 inches long today!
I just moved the plant (chair and all) from the deck on the canal to my lanai so I can keep a close eye on it.
And since it's a night bloomer, there was no way I was going down to the canal in the middle of the night to take a picture You never know who's out there
So now, if it opens at midnight I can safely take a picture for you all to see without worries of running into any critters or alligators
