Full Description: Cactus species Trichocereus peruvianus-ICARO DNA a columnar cactus reaching up to 20' feet tall with numerous erect or ascending, stout branches, 6" to 8" in diameter, glaucous when young; ribs average 6 to 8, broad and rounded; areoles large, 3/4" to 1" apart, brown-felted; spines brown from apex first, about 10, unequal, some of them 1-1/2"+ long, rigid and stout, not at all swollen at base; areoles on ovary and flower is tube hairy with white colored flowers.

Common names : Peruvian Torch Cactus, San Pedro Macho

Synonyms : Echinopsis peruvianus, Trichocereus puquiensis, Echinopsis puquiensis, Trichocereus tacnaensis, Trichocereus torataensis

Native to : Peru-Western slopes of the Andes.

Flowers : Hairy flower buds & flower tubes, large nocturnal white colored blooms with chartreuse colored back petals, some bronze coloring on back petal tips, cream colored anthers and stigma.

More info. : The ICARO DNA is not actually a clone but a seller who is very well know for its high quality Trichocereus seeds. The plants grow into amazingly dark to blue-green colored columns with strong spines. Sometimes, those spines are also dark brown colored.

Trichocereus Peruvianus is a columnar cactus native to the western slope of the Andes in Peru, between about 2,000V3,000 m (6,600V9,800 ft) above sea level. It contains the psychoactive alkaloid mescaline as well as other alkaloids, although reported levels vary considerably and do not approach the concentrations found in Echinopsis pachanoi Aka Trichocereus panchanoi.

Trichocereus peruvianus has be re-classified into the Echinopsis genus and is not scientifically classified as Echinopsis peruvianus.
