|Full Description: Cactus species Rapicactus subterraneus Has a small purplish bloom in a funnel form averaging 1" to 1-1/4" in diameter, lighter purple to white petal edges and yellow anthers but more interesting than the bloom of Rapicactus subterraneus is the very unusual growth.|
Growth characteristics of Rapicactus subterraneus:
A large tuber beneath the soil similar to a carrot root supports a skinny neck with a cactus head on the tip. The neck is too skinny to support the weight of the head directly vertical so it tends to grow semi-pendant or downwards in an irregular manner. Very unusual and rarely seen in its native habitat Rapicactus subterraneus seems to be leaping out of its soil.
