|Full Description: Dragon fruit variety 'PALORA' this is a Selenicereus megalanthus variety with large sized yellow exterior fruit, fruit flesh is white colored. Just as sweet if not sweeter than the species S.megalanthus but 4 times larger in size. Grown and developed in the town of Palora, Ecuador it still has exterior spines on the fruit like S. Megalanthus but they are easily removed with the brush of a hand. Very tropical in growth habit this variety can not handle temps below 50 degrees for long periods of time and below 32 even briefly expect some severe stem damage, that said if given protection in winter it grows very fast and 2 years + out starts producing blooms then followed by fruit. Very tropical variety loves heat so do not expect 4, 5 or more flushes of fruit in Northern hemisphere for this variety unless green housed year round, even then if not at equator not enough light intensity but only our brief 3 to 4 months of summer you will see fast growth and blooms/followed by fruit for at least 1 or 2 flushes unlike Hylocereus undatus crosses that do 4 to 5 flushes. A little more work than others but very sweet n tasty fruit, averages 22-23 BRIX.
