Full Description: Succulent species Euphorbia trigona (Species-green form) has an upright stem that is branched into three or four sides. The stem itself is dark green with V-shaped light green patterns. less than 1/4" inch long thorns are placed in pairs of two on the 3 to 4 stem's ridges or ribs. The tear drop shaped light green colored leaves grow from between the two thorns on each ridge or rib. An easy to grow plant that is most commonly grown as a houseplant worldwide. Has attractive lush looking green foliage.

Common name : African milk tree, Cathedral cactus, Abyssinian euphorbia and high chaparall

Synonyms : no known synonyms.

Native to : Central Africa

Flower : Not known to have any noticeable flowers.

More Info : Euphorbia trigona is only known in human cultivation and is commonly used as a house plant worldwide.

It is also used as a ritual plant and a hedge in Gabon.

Euphorbia Trigona comes in different forms of green, variegated and purplish-red colors in the stems or leaves, but all have the same or similar stem growth characteristics. This plant displayed on this catalog page is the "green form" variety.

Caution : CAUTION like most plants in the Euphorbia genus the white milky sap inside the stems is an irritant, especially to softer tissues such as eyes, lips, nose and should be washed off immediately if contact is made. Take caution if growing in locations near small children.

Care : Euphorbia Trigona likes some sun to part shade, more shade required in hot inland areas. Rich good draining soil mix. Hardy to 38F for brief periods, prefers 50F and up. Likes regular water to look its best but can tolerate periods of drought. Easy to grow, produces offsets or arms each season. Makes a great houseplant in cold locations, can be trained/trimmed to grow straight up.
