Growth; Echinopsis aurea growth form is semi-columnar to 6 to 8" above the soil line and 4" diameter on average. The stem(s) have 14 to 15 ribs with 4 central spines, ribs are protruding or wavy at aerioles. The spines are long and average 3/4" to 1" depending on the age of the plant. Produces few pups and is often solitary. Young plants require some shade in warm-dry locations during the warm season.
