Full Description: Species Echinocereus gentryi Has a small 2" diameter rose-pink colored nocturnal bloom with a green stamen. Growth is cylindrical, semi-pendant with multi-ribbed stems and very small spines on stem edges. Stems can grow to 20"+ in length and average 1-1/4" diameter.

Native to; Mexico-Chihuahua, Sonora to 6605900 ft (2001800 m) altitude.

Care; Give Echinocereus gentryi full sun by coast to part shade inland. Give rich very well draining porous type soil mix, little water needed in winter season. Makes an interesting hanging basket plant with unusual growth. Hardy to 20 degrees.

More info. Named after Howard S. Gentry. Howard Scott Gentry was born in Temecula, California. (December 10, 1903-April 1, 1993) He was an American botanist recognized as the world's leading authority on Agaves. Besides making several noted botanical exibitions within Mexioo and the western U.S. he also worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for several years. He also collected many of the specimens now at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.
